Editing Lane is a professional,

individualized editing and

proofreading service.

As a professional editor, I have been helping writers take their manuscripts to the publishing phase for over 15 years. My editing and proofreading services are for writers of novels, non-fiction books, academic papers, short stories, poetry, children's books, and articles.

I have worked successfully with authors, researchers, academics, journalists, and students.

I offer a free editing sample of 1-2 pages in length (for long documents), along with a price quote. I maintain a one-on-one relationship with my clients and am easily accessible by phone or email. In addition to delivering superior editing and proofreading results, I always strive to tailor my services to fit your needs in the following ways:

  • The degree to which I maintain or change the content, structure, or style of your document

  • The pace and method of the editing or proofreading process, which is only finished when you say it is

  • Staying within deadlines

A professional edit or proofreading will eliminate errors that could compromise your hard work and help you to make your manuscript or document the best it can be. A second pair of eyes is a definite asset in the writing process. Though each manuscript or document is unique from an editing or proofreading standpoint, I will ensure that it is clear, well organized, and free of grammatical errors, typos, and incorrect usage. Further, I will make sure that the style, tone, and formatting are appropriate and consistent throughout. Finally, for novels, non-fiction books, short stories, and verse, I will also focus, where appropriate, on such areas as character development, structure, plausibility, consistency, and tension. For examples of the most common writing mistakes and their editing and proofreading corrections, please see the Examples page.
